Welcome - A Message From the Head Teacher

Welcome to Woodlands School...

Welcome to Woodlands School and thank you for visiting our website.

We are very proud of our School and, in particular, our wonderfully inspiring pupils. Our highly skilled staff teams strive to provide pupils with the skills and experiences they need to succeed.

Woodlands and our Unity MAT partner school, Brooke, are all-age broad spectrum settings. As an academy we are very proud to work closely with the Local Authority (LA) to meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The LA overviews important statutory duties such as admissions and transport, whilst also ensuring that there are enough quality places for pupils with SEND. As such we are supported by the LA to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school.

At Woodlands we actively encourage partnership with parents and professionals to provide a holistic approach which enables pupils to be as confident, competent and independent as possible.

We are committed to providing a safe, caring and engaging environment which ensures that all pupils are able to access high quality learning opportunities that cater for their individual needs and interests.

We believe that our curriculum inspires and motivates our young people to achieve their full potential through exciting and highly personalised pathways. We value our pupils’ opinions and seek every opportunity to promote self-advocacy. A particular focus is placed on outdoor learning which includes Forest School, the Care Farm and Enterprise. Our core values, ethos and purpose underpin everything that we do:

Our Values are:

•Respect for the individual

•Value everyone’s contribution

•Commitment to collaboration

•Absolute integrity

•Ambition for excellence

•Professionalism in everything we do

Our Ethos:

Woodlands is a happy and inclusive school where we celebrate all achievements. Well-being and success are only possible through mutual support and respect.

Our Purpose:

To educate and empower our young people to develop the attitudes, skills and self-belief to succeed.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
